Privacy
Last updated 11 October 2026
Nairobi Life is built to know as little about you as possible. You play under a generated name like @pinkelephant. We never ask for your real name or phone number, and your email is never shown to anyone.
What we keep
- Your account: a random id, your generated username, and when you started and last played.
- Your game: your character's look, where you are in the city, and the game money you earned, spent, saved and owe. None of this is real money.
- Your sessions: one cookie per browser that keeps you signed in. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it, plus which browser it came from and when it was last used.
- If you sign in with Google: Google's account id for you, a number that lets us recognise you next time, and your verified email address. We don't ask Google for your name or photo.
Why we keep your email
Only so a real person is accountable for each signed-in account. We use it to investigate abuse of the game or other players, to block people who break the terms, and to contact you about your account if we have to. It's never shown to other players, never sent to your browser, and never used for marketing.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to remember you, and a short-lived cookie during Google sign-in to keep it secure. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run third-party analytics.
Who sees it
Other players only ever see your generated username, which is also your character's name. We don't sell or share your data, except where the law requires it. It's stored on the server that runs the game, and Google only learns that you signed in to Nairobi Life.
How long we keep it
- Guests who don't sign in are deleted automatically about an hour after their last visit.
- Signed-in accounts are kept until you delete them. Sessions expire after a year, or when you sign out.
- Server logs used to keep the game running are kept briefly and not used to identify you.
Your choices
You can play without signing in, and sign out at any time from the account menu. You can also delete your account there: your character, game money, history, email and Google link are all erased straight away and can't be recovered.
Children
The game is meant for players aged 13 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
